Woolmer & Osama

An American news channel had quite sometime back mentioned Osama instead of US political candidate Obama. Today when I read rediff talking about Woolmer's death being linked to Al Qaeda, I was re-checking whether there was a similar confusion of names. But his death has been actualy linked to Al Qaeda and the D Gang. Ridiculous. Incidentally the news has been published in one of the UK tabloids . Can someone say why Al Qaeda should target Woolmer?
