Hurray...i top the Google Search

Its finally my dream come true. Search for Sriram Iyer in google.co.in or even google.com and my rediff blog (http://theiyer.rediffblogs.com) is thrown up as the second item. Guess its a happy feeling . Now i need to drive traffic to this blogspot blog to ensure that the same gets thrown up in the top rung. Actually suprised to see some of my old articles in ET coming the back pages of the search...ooh lala la..oo oo lala la

My first blog from office

Its my first blog from office (and not from the Reliance Webworld outlet in TTK Road). And that too day on the last day of the April month which has been ridden with too much pressure and chaos. Managing three teams is taking its toll and its a goodbye to personal life ...reaching home at not earlier than 10.30 where do u have personal life? And the month end is even more bugging as it falls on a saturday. So I decided to start the day with something eventful like blogging.Catch up tomorrow....

Return of Gautham Menon

With Doc starting off on his next project with "Vettaiyadu Velaiyadi", lets just hope that Gautham Menon delivers a hat trick after Minnale and Kaakha Kaakha.

(Last time , I saw Gautham was at the DVD release of Mani's films at Landmark. )

Gautham's strategy has all along been to remake his hit Tamil films in other languages. Though his Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein was no way near Minnale, his telugu version of Kaakha Kaakha was a hit. With reports of KK being remade in English, Gautham is definitely on a roll.

But Kamal-Jyothika-Harris Jeyaraj along with Gautham Menon is definitely worth a watch.

Doc drives Mumbai Express at full speed

Mumbai Express has just shown that Padma Shree Dr. Kamal Haasan has truly mastered the art of comedy to the extent that he can actually make people laugh without Crazy Mohan penning the dialogues - quite a tough decision considering that all his major comedy hits had Crazy Mohan behind it. With a touch of his usual slapstick comedy seen in Panchathanthiram type films, he has also tickled the ribs with situational comedy and make us lol (laugh out loud) and rol (roll in laughter).

Well personally, I think Mumbai Express is definitely one of the best comedy films that I have seen , though some others might disagree. But like all Kamal's films, it will have a good run in A centres recovering money with B & C centres just having a touch and go.

But the surprise package in the film has been Pasupathi who has definitely broken the cliche of his run of the mill villain roles and has shown the Koothupattarai class. Well if you ask me, except for the section of the movie after interval, Mumbai Express is definitel a fast train. Definitely paisa vasool.

Adios Rajdeep

With that big decision to move out of Prannoy Roy's shadows, guess we might miss you in those Big Fight sessions in NDTV which you handle with elan and ease . Signs of a seasoned journalist (and that too from an ex journo).

Setting aside your stammer, I strongly feel that you are one of the very few journos who can control the venom spouting politicians like a trained ringmaster. Just hope that you do not become one of the many who come out of Prannoy Roy's iron grip and then slowly fade away.

Appan Menon. Arnab Goswami (who has taken over as the news editor of the soon to be launched Times News channel. The Trio who joined India TV (and God knows where they are now. probably only i can give them a race in changing jobs). And now Rajdeep Sardesai. Prannoy is definitely losing some invaluable assets.

With news that you might be teaming up with Raghav Behl, its definitely much better than your Big Fight sessions.

Tango Charlie & My world last week

Tango Charlie
Originally uploaded by theiyer.
Last Friday Mani Shankar was under the test of fire when we decided to watch Tango Charlie as there was no other new non English movie actually hitting the BO. My bad run at films did continue but then Tango Charlie was definitely not like his previous dud movie Rudraksh.

Anti war with back ground set against Bodo militancy in NE, naxals in AP and finally Kashmir, it was a refreshingly different war movie with slick picturisation. But guess the love stories inbetween pulled the train to halts.

I would prefer Tanisha to follow Kajol and stay away from movies. And Nandana Sen is some item definitely, making us wonder whether its the same girl who is so meek and unglamorous as Rani's sis in Black.

A hectic week followed in office, thanks to the month end pressure further aggravated by the new TRAI verification regulations.

But the Sunday was a refresher when we came second in a Microsoft sponsored corporate quiz. Me, Rajaram and Srivatsan were richer by 9k. It was like Spielberg's provervial flood after the drought. Long time since we won a prize at the quiz.

Another tough week in office expected as a result of some tweaking in profile....God save the telecom business
